GET COVERED NJ INDIVIDUAL & FAMILY PLANS ARE DISCOUNTED HEALTH INSURANCE PLANS

AVAILABLE TO NEW JERSEY RESIDENTS UDER THE AGE OF 65.

YOU MAY ENROLL IN AN:

ON-EXCHANGE (WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE) OR OFF-EXCHANGE (WITHOUT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE) HEALTH PLAN. AT AGE 65, YOU MUST DISENROLL FROM THE GETCOVERED NJ HEALTH PLAN YOU HAVE SELECTED AND ENROLL INSTEAD IN A MEDICARE PLAN AT EITHER SSA.GOV OR IN PERSON AT YOUR LOCAL SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE. YOU MUST BE ENROLLED IN MEDICARE PARTS A&B FOR EITHER A MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLAN OR A MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT PLAN.

Any GET COVERED NJ enrollment application submitted after January 31, 2025 will be considered during a Special Enrollment Period(SEP) and must be accompanied by either proof of loss of coverage or another life changing event. Qualifying events include: loss of health coverage, turning age 26, having a baby, adopting a child, getting married, getting divorced, becoming legally separated, changes in state residency, income changes, becoming a US citizen, and natural disasters (hurricane, earthquake, etc) that have prevented you from enrolling. Generally, if you qualify for an SEP, you have up to 60 days following the event to enroll in or change your plan.

**THE MEDICARE ANNUAL ENROLLMENT PERIOD IS OCTOBER 15, 2025 - DECEMBER 7, 2025

BOTH IN PERSON & TELEPHONE ENROLLMENTS ARE AVAILABLE

You are eligible for Original Medicare, Parts A & B when you are at least 65 years old or if you are under 65 and qualify due to a disability or other special situation. Secondly, you must be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident who has lived in the United States for at least 5 consecutive years.
The 20-employee rule for Medicare is a regulation that determines which insurance company pays first when a Medicare beneficiary receives medical care. If your spouse's employer has 20 or more employees, their employer-sponsored health insurance plan will pay first, and Medicare will pay second. If your spouse's employer has fewer than 20 employees or if their employer-sponsored health insurance plan is not part of a multi-employer group health plan, Medicare will pay first, and their employer-sponsored health insurance plan will pay second.
